We discovered Cedar Key in the spring of 2002, and it quickly became our favorite place to be. While there is still much more for us to explore, these are a few of our favorites so far. Please sign our guest book, and tell us what you discovered! Relaxing on the Balcony- With your morning coffee or an afternoon drink, the views and the bird watching are spectacular. We've seen bald eagles, roseate spoonbills, pelicans, frigate birds, osprey, egrets, several types of herons and perching birds, and early morning visits by dolphins! Leave your car behind-Walking the historic streets of Cedar Key, we enjoy the colorful architecture, art galleries, shopping and scenery. You can walk to the beaches, the docks, and the new playground at City Park (our son's favorite!) Exploring- The Island Hopper boat tours are a great way to see the surrounding keys, lots of nature, and give you a great view of the main island. We look for shells and sand dollars, which are abundant in the beautiful, unspoiled environment. The Gulf Cart Company rents golf carts for exploring the inhabited islands of Cedar Key, and is a good way to get to the Cedar Key State Museum and nature trail. You can also rent bikes, motor scooters and canoes, all within walking distance of the condo complex. Swimming and Sunning-We spend the late afternoon at the condo's pool and Jacuzzi. We enjoy talking with other guests, reading, sunning and swimming. The topic of "Which restaurant tonight?" usually comes up. Eating Out- We usually eat breakfast and lunch at the condo, however, The Galley at Fish Bonz has great sandwiches (to stay or to go), Frog's Landing has juicy burgers and fries, and Cook's Cafe is a local favorite with a varied menu. Dinner is always fun and delicious at the Blue Desert Cafe, and they make the best pizza! For fancier dining, we go to the Island Room and the Island Hotel Dining Room. There are still many places we are waiting to try... Off the Island- Other attractions within a short drive include Homasassa Springs Wildlife Park, where you can view and feed Manatees, and Manatee Springs State Park on the Suwannee River. Also plan for day trips to numerous attractions in Gainesville (a one-hour drive) and Orlando (a two-hour drive). Other Useful Links
